Abstract

This scientific investigation presents a general characteristic of the patterns of existence and perception of classical music in the modern space of metamodern culture. In the process of our research, we tried to identify and explain the functions of musical art in the context of voicing the space of everyday life. The article illustrates that music, as a reflective phenomenon of the culture of society, sounds in a wide variety of contexts of human life, as a result of which its status is extremely mobile, that is, it can act as both everyday and "super-everyday" music. It is emphasized that in essence, with regard to musical art, which sounds "off-screen" in the perspective of social actions, the traditional division into genres no longer applies. In our scientific work, given the totality of the "off-screen" perception of music, a natural question arises – is it possible in principle today to determine the role of this or that music through traditional genre gradations? The process of removing genre boundaries is especially evident when classical music acts as "accompanying" music. We tried to indicate in more detail its specific functions in voicing various spaces and events of human life. Classical music, which sounds "behind the scenes", instantly distinguishes the place where it sounds from the entire surrounding landscape and generally from the context of everyday life and mundanity, due to the fact that its sound code is strikingly different from the usual sound code of the modern era. Even if classical music sounds "behind the scenes", a person will still notice its presence in the same way as, for example, he will immediately hear a foreign language among the general hubbub of people talking. It has been noted that the contexts of sounding music, which sounds in the background, are much wider and more polyphonic compared to the pragmatic goals pursued by functional music. It is determined that musical art, classical in particular, by its presence forms the illusion of harmony, aesthetic appeal of the surrounding space, ordinary actions and social relations, contributes to the erasure of boundaries between distant historical eras, and brings a sense of spiritual content and significance to everyday life.
