NON-TRADITIONAL LESSON AS AN ENVIRONMENT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ADOLESCENTS' CULTURAL (ARTISTIC) COMPETENCE

Abstract

The article explores methodological aspects of developing cultural (artistic) competence of adolescent schoolchildren through non-traditional art lessons in secondary education institutions. The author's position is formulated: non-traditional art lessons as a creative environment are an effective means of developing the cultural (artistic) competence of older adolescents. This fact is of particular importance on the eve of the beginning of independent, in particular, professional educational and initial professional activities of graduates of secondary education institutions. Summarizing modern theoretical scientific experience, the authors argue that competence is a personal experience (knowledge, skills, abilities), which is in a state of activation, acquiring the ability to independently use it by an individual. At the same time, definitions of the terms "cultural and artistic competence" are proposed. In particular, the ability of an individual to independently use knowledge, skills, and abilities in the cultural sphere of social life forms the essence of cultural competence. Artistic competence is interpreted as the ability of an individual to comprehend and understand artistic imagery, to respond emotionally to it, and to engage in diverse artistic activities, in particular, artistic perception, interpretation, performance, and creativity. A differentiated typology of nontraditional art lessons is presented, in which each group demonstrates reliance on a certain level of creativity. For example: non-standard lessons using reproductive creativity (lesson-journey to Egypt; lesson-icon painting workshop; lesson-expedition to Trypillya; lesson-alphabet of Christian artistic symbols). Lessons – variations, which involve the creation of modifications (variations) of the theme, artistic image (lesson-rite; lesson for Mother Ukrainian; temple-variations, etc.). Lessons-improvisations (lesson from a kobzar; lesson of hoku; lesson-dance, etc.). Lessons of creativity, which involve the performance of creative tasks based on various types of art.
