COMPARISON OF SOLO SINGING AND CHORAL PERFORMANCE: INTERRELATION AND INFLUENCE ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF VOCAL ABILITIES
Abstract
The article is devoted to a comparative analysis of solo singing and choral performance in order to identify their interconnection and influence on the development of vocal abilities. The scientific novelty of the article lies in a comprehensive approach to the comparative analysis of solo and choral singing, which allows to identify their complementary and mutually exclusive aspects. The research methodology is based on the integrated use of scientific approaches, including comparative and analytical. This allows for a comprehensive analysis of the scientific literature, including the study of monographic scientific publications and dissertations on vocal art. The results of the study demonstrate that solo and choral singing are complementary forms of vocal activity that have a specific impact on the development of vocal abilities. Solo singing contributes to the development of individual vocal skills, such as timbre, dynamics and articulation, while choral singing develops ensemble sound, harmonic ear and sense of rhythm. Solo and choral singing have technical, psychological and emotional differences. A soloist is an individual interpreter, while a chorister is part of a collective. They are not mutually exclusive but complementary. Choral singing develops a sense of ensemble and harmony, and solo singing develops individual technique and expressiveness, so their combination contributes to the comprehensive development of vocal abilities. The authors identify effective methodological approaches for developing the vocal abilities of soloists and choristers. General approaches include the development of vocal technique, ear for music and performance skills. For soloists, an individual approach and the development of artistry are important. For choristers, it is ensemble sound and vocal discipline. Taking into account the specifics of each form of vocal art and the individual characteristics of performers is key to their development. In the course of the study, the authors found that the combination of solo and choral singing in the educational process is an effective method of developing vocal abilities. It allows performers to develop both individual and ensemble skills, which is important for their professional growth.
