NATIONAL-PATRIOTIC EDUCATION OF STUDENT YOUTH THROUGH THE MEANS OF UKRAINIAN INSURGENT SONGS

Abstract

This article is devoted to the theoretical comprehension of the cultural and historical phenomenon of the Ukrainian insurgent song as a form of musical creativity reflecting the national liberation struggle of the Ukrainian people and as an important means of national-patriotic education for university students. Using a scholarly and problem-oriented approach, the essence and content of the concept of the «Ukrainian insurgent song» are analyzed and revealed. The main features of patriotic songs and their thematic content are characterized. The development and specifics of the existence of insurgent songs are traced, along with a genre-thematic classification. The study emphasizes the importance of researching insurgent songs for understanding and realizing the historical national liberation events of the Ukrainian people and for strengthening and uniting the nation. It is highlighted that insurgent musical and poetic folklore is distinguished by its national-ideological character and state-building orientation. The continuity of insurgent songs is emphasized, especially their relevance in the context of current challenges and the pressing struggle of Ukraine against the Russian Federation for independence. The cultural and historical phenomenon of the insurgent song is viewed as a body of musical works about the national liberation struggle of the Ukrainian people, reflecting ideas of heroic sacrifice for the sovereignty of Ukraine, portraying courage, bravery, devotion to the state, and the indomitable spirit of patriots. Insurgent musical creativity, which glorifies the heroism of soldiers defending Ukraine at the cost of their own lives, contributes to the spiritual fortification and unification of the nation. It serves as an important tool for national-patriotic education of youth, particularly future teachers of the arts (music education), who act as carriers and promoters of culture and patriotic upbringing through musical art for future generations. Ukrainian insurgent songs reflect the complex history of the national liberation struggles of Ukrainian patriots, whose invincible desire for freedom, patriotism, national consciousness, devotion, and love for Ukraine serve as a worthy example, especially for young people. In Ukraine’s current struggle with the Russian Federation for independence and the preservation of national-cultural identity, this legacy becomes a powerful driving force. The insurgent song heritage holds significant educational potential for future teachers of the arts (music education), affirming national-cultural identity, spiritual growth of youth, fostering patriotism, national self-awareness, respect for the cultural-historical past and spiritual values, and forming a firm civic stance and a conscious sense of responsibility for Ukraine’s destiny.
