ARTISTIC PERFORMANCE CONCEPT OF RAGTIME IN THE INSTRUMENTAL GENRE

Abstract

The proposed article reveals the essential characteristics of ragtime as an important object in the system of instrumental performance in the period of the birth and formation of jazz. On the basis of scientific works, an attempt was made to prove that ragtime in musical and performing practice had an important influence on the development and formation of musicians and individual orchestral and ensemble groups, expanded the possibilities of using various technical and performing techniques (mainly in piano playing, in which the performer used non-standard principles combination of right and left hand and a wide range of various metrorhythmic patterns). It was found that in the performing practice of pianists of the ragtime period, their own playing manners and special approaches to the performance of ragtime pieces were crystallized, which were later used in the practice of jazz musicians and in ensemble practice. It has been proven that ragtime is also a compositional genre that has incorporated important features of the European and jazz tradition. In this genre, it is necessary to note the composer and performer Scott Joplin, who was the founder of the birth of ragtime, laying the foundations and raising it to a professional level of performance, applying a wide range of technical, performing and artistic principles. The proposed article is a certain scientific view on the subject of covering ragtime as an artistic and performing object in the work of jazz musicians and orchestral groups, which encourages deep reflection and analysis.
