CREATIVE INDUSTRIES: ESSENCE AND CLASSIFICATIONS

Keywords: creative industries, cultural industries, creative sector of the economy, intellectual property, economic system

Abstract

This article is dedicated to revealing the essence of creative industries and the classification of types of economic activities that form its foundation. The analysis of the source base shows that different researchers in the field of the creative economy have different approaches to interpreting this concept. In different countries and research traditions, creative industries are interpreted differently, which complicates their systematic study and the development of effective support policies. The results of the study indicate that creative industries encompass a wide range of economic activities from traditional art, publishing and architecture to digital technologies, programming, and computer games. Considering the diversity of economic activities, it is proposed to divide them into creative and cultural industries. The main criteria for such a division have been identified: the main purpose of activity, technological development, the uniqueness of goods and services, the purpose of financing, and the level of globalization. In addition to the differences inherent in creative and cultural industries, common features that they share have been identified, such as creativity as a foundation, contributing to economic growth and job creation, as well as social impact, which is manifested in the improvement of education levels and social cohesion. This research demonstrates that the creative sector of the economy develops at the intersection of creativity, culture, and business. It has significant potential for development, as it combines different sectors of the economy, actively uses innovations, and adapts to modern internal and external challenges. Considering globalization processes, rapid digitization, and the introduction of artificial intelligence tools, the future of creative and cultural industries will depend on their ability to adapt and implement new technologies, support cultural diversity, and promote sustainable development. In turn, the connection between creative and cultural industries is extremely important for preserving national identity and cultural heritage, helping to create innovative goods and services for their realization in domestic and global markets.
